Mental Health First Aid


Description
Mental Health First Aid USA is an evidence-based training that teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to someone who is experiencing a mental health or substance-use challenge.
This $130 certification is active for 3 years and is free for University of Utah members thanks to the generous contributions of The Parent Fund.
Participants must complete both the 2 hour pre-work module (online) and attend both
instructor-led sessions in its entirety to become certified with MHFA.
If you participate in the University's Well U program, completing MHFA will earn you
a Well U credit.
Please note: Courses must meet a minimum registration of 15 participants.
Overview/Objective
- Participants will be able to identify at least one sign of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older.
- Participants will increase their confidence in the appropriate ways to offer and provide initial help.
- Participants will learn how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary.
Requirements
- Approximately ~2 hours of pre-work
- 2 days of 4.5 hour instructor-led sessions
