What's Love Got to do with Wellness?
Hey Valentine! Let's talk a bit about love and the role it plays in your wellbeing. Whether it's with a partner, your parents, your roommate, or even just how you pick yourself up at the end of the day - communication is a way to show we care.
Clear and open communication can improve our experience in the various relationships we have in life including personal, platonic, familial, occupational, sexual, and romantic relationships.
Positive-self talk is one helpful way to practice healthy communication. A common way to nurture open communication is through a "loving-kindness" meditation. By connecting with the goodness in people, we can bring self-compassion to ourselves and those we struggle with. This awareness can help us make more intentional choices to improve our connections with the self and others.
Another open communication practice is setting and communicating boundaries. It's important to get along with others while respecting our needs. Three skills we can practice here are objective effectiveness, relationship effectiveness, and self-effectiveness. How will you show your wellness some love today?
